  • After more than two weeks being bundled up in the house, studying, it's finally over! XD

So yeah, I hung-out at Mebourne Central and David Jones right after my Economics paper today, watching Elizabeth: The Golden Age (Quite a good film) and customizing a Juicy Couture charm bracelet for myself (Just thought of splurging a little after those weeks without shopping...lol!). Well, I'll probably go back to watching some animes as soon as I'm done with this entry since I have lots of them to catch up with...Hehe.

    Cheerios!

  • Well, I'm not trying to inflame on the racial issue but the government seriously have to do something about this before this situation turns from bad to worse...
Dewan Rakyat: 106,000 give up citizenship

    V. Vasudevan and Anis Ibrahim
    (Taken from NST online)

MORE than 100,000 people have let go of their Malaysian citizenship since 1957, the Dewan Rakyat was told yesterday.

Home Affairs Ministry parliamentary secretary Datuk Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said the 106,000 Malaysians who had surrendered their citizenship since independence had various reasons for doing so.

"They prefer living overseas. They feel that they would have better job opportunities in a particular country or they believe their children would receive better education."

Those were the common reasons given, he said in reply to a supplementary question by Datuk Firdaus Harun (BN-Rembau).

Earlier, when replying to the original question by Datuk Mohamed Aziz (BN-Sri Gading), he said from 2000 to last year, 16,474 Malaysians voluntarily surrendered their citizenship.
Of this total, 14,316 were Chinese, 1,098 Malays, 822 Indians while the rest were from other races.

He said these people had applied for citizenship in countries such as India, Singapore, Britain, Australia, Germany, the United States, France, New Zealand, France, Sweden, Canada, Thailand, Austria, Belgium, Norway, Finland and the Netherlands.

Mohamed had asked for the racial breakdown of those who had renounced their citizenship and the countries they had applied for citizenship from 2000.

Suggestion: Why not justify the rights of Malaysians soon?

  • One down, 5 more to go...

So, I'm finally done with my EAP exam, and how did it go? Not too bad, I guess. "In recent years, Australia has introduced the Australian Citizenship Test as a positive measure. Discuss." That was how the title went but out of curiousity, I'm wondering now what do Australians think of this idea since the extracts provided in view to the essay we were required to produce from this topic provided far more negative measures to it.

But oh well, what's done is done. I'll just have to prepare for tomorrow's exam...MATH! So not looking forward to it. Well, maybe not as bad as Economics, to be brutally honest. And yeah, summer is heating up right now...Today's temperature is a staggering 37 degree celcius. What I hate most about the weather is not about the temperature but the swarm of flies buzzing around me as I walk around outside. And this weird weather in Melbourne more often than not gets to me because it's either similar to this equation:

    Windy = No flies

    or this,

Not windy = Lots of flies

Thus, it is conclusive that the swarm of flies act as a substitution matter in this season's weather. Geez...Talk about Math and Economics being combined together

  • What's up, Malaysia?

Whilst browsing NST online today, I came up with a conclusion that the 9MP projects will never meet up to the expectations of the nation. What's up with you, Malaysia?
    Several 9MP projects behind schedule

PUTRAJAYA: Several projects under the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) are behind schedule. This was revealed in a circular issued by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan.
He said as of Oct 15, only 29.9 per cent of the allocation for the 9MP had been spent and this was not according to the implementation schedule.

"This is happening because of the lack of detailed planning by the implementing agencies," he said in the circular dated Nov 7, which was posted on the Economic Planning Unit website (www.epu.gov.my).

Sidek also said some high-impact projects had not even begun.

The circular did not mention the targeted expenditure nor the implementation schedule.
The circular was issued to ministry secretaries-general, heads of federal departments and agencies, and state government secretaries.

The ministries have been told to prepare reports of all the 9MP projects under their jurisdiction, which are to be submitted to the mid-term review secretariat at the EPU, which is under the Prime Minister's Department.

The government's allocation for the 9MP amounts to RM200 billion with an additional RM20 billion from private finance initiatives.

Among the high-impact projects under the 9MP are the second Penang bridge, which is scheduled for completion by January 2011, the railway double-tracking project, agriculture and rural-education projects, and the three economic development corridors in the north, south and east that were launched this year.

  • "Do you know what Lavender stands for? Waiting for love, I will be always here waiting for you..."

And so that's how our play go...A love once forgotten but never left behind. The drama exam for our play was held today at Evan Burge and from the feedback we got from the audience were awesome. I kept thinking to myself that this is our last play together before we move on to our busy uni lives next year. It might be the last but I'm glad that this is the best performance we ever pulled through together over the months. Jack, Icy, Heyin and Hao...Here's to the years to come and our splendid performance, 'The Forgotten.'

  • So, it's already the 5th of November...

...I'll finally be home in exactly a month's time.

Truth to be told, I have mixed feelings on this...

...I am, indeed looking forward to be with my friends and family again but at the same time, I do not want to leave this place, which has been filled up with lots of amazing memories in just 10 months.Trinity might not be the nicest place to be but this is the place that I turned over a new leaf and promised myself never to look back at the past again.

  • Trinity Ball

A lovely black and pink satin dress I've gotten ready, with a fascinator for my hair for this very occasion. I've been waiting for almost 10 months for this moment but sadly, right now, I do not feel ready for all this. Partly of my self-esteem problem but more of because this moment just doesn't feel right without him. I know I could just go and mingle with my friends instead of dancing through the night but why is it then did they organize this whole thing?

  • Woohoo! My group has finally completed our Accounting assignment report XD Supposed to have a drama rehearsal with my group today but was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. But basically, our drama is based on Jay Chou's Maple video if that has kept all of you wondering:

We decided to take up the challenge of doing a romance drama this term since we have done a comedy and a thriller during the last two terms. This sounds like an easier but mind you, it is actually more difficult because more theatrical elements and emotions are required to pull this through. As we keep our fingers crossed, hopefully this drama will turn out as well as the previous two or perhaps even better.

  •  My day began with the continuation of Shakespeare's Othello during Literature class and yeah, we're finally through Act 3 Scene 3, which is the longest scene in this play. Though, I have to admit, Shakespeare has written superbly well for this play in terms of the plot and characterisations of each character. If needed to be asked on who is my favourite villain of all time, I'd have to say Iago for his sneaky yet incredibly smart tactics in transforming Othello's thoughts over Desdemona. His tactics more often than not, revolved around the truth and they were just a matter of words being rephrased in another way.

Lol! But enough about Literature for now. I also learnt quite a bit in History of Ideas today on the topic of postmodernism and it brings me here to show all of you some work of art and pictures which I thought were interesting:

    blur building

Diller & Scofidio: Blur Building Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland

So, are you able to spot the building in this picture? Scroll down for the answer...

The building is in fact that 'strange form of cloud'! How was it done? Through evaporation from the water in that lake, you might guess...But the real answer is this building is made up of hundreds of water sprinklers and through the splashing of water the sprinklers made, this effect is produced. No wonder those passer-bys on the left are wearing raincoats as they approach that building...Interesting, huh?

    thinking

    Barbara Kruger: Thinking of You

Here's another interesting piece...By focusing just on the words, one might make an assumption that the person putting up this piece is thoughtful. However, if you study the background photo of someone getting pricked by a needle, it is as if thinking of that particular person makes you hurt so much. A contrast, indeed from the message being stated.

So, speaking about postmodernism, what about this piece?

    postmodernism1

Sounds familiar to us? It sure does, in this life of ours...
